Habitat:  Beaches, rocky headlands, inshore reefs, bays, inlets.

Good baits:  Baitfish, beach worms, pipis, prawns.

Good lures: Suckers for paddle-tailed soft plastics.

An aggressive, schooling fish, known for its sporting prowess. Salmon are regularly caught by beach fishermen using pilchards and lures.
